Aston Villa – Arsenal Preview

Aston Villa are once again among the contenders for a Top 4 finish in the Prem. And they started their new campaign with a win – 2-1 against West Ham in London. The new signing Amadou Onana scored a late opened for the Villans while Jhon Duran replaced Ollie Watkins and the scored the winner for Unai Emery’s team. We can say that Aston Villa dominated the game and deserved to win – that’s for sure.

Now Unai Emery must make a decision regarding the striker position. Ollie Watkins didn’t have a good game against West Ham while his substitution Jhon Duran scored the winner. This means that Duran could get a place in the line-up against the Gunners.

Arsenal also kicked off their campaign with a win – 2-0 against Wolves at home. Kai Havertz opened the score at the Emirates while Bukayo Saka made it two-nil. What’s interesting is that Saka assisted for Havertz’ goal while Havertz assisted for Saka’s. It was some good harmony between these two players.

It doesn’t seem likely to see Mikel Arteta making changes against Aston Villa, but it’s not impossible. What he could eventually do is put Jurrien Timber in the line-up. The Dutch defender missed the majority of the last season because of injury. But now Timber is ready to play and he has a lot of quality to offer.

Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus remain options for Arsenal’s attack, but most likely Arteta will stick with the trio Saka – Havertz – Martinelli.
